2016 Classic bow.
« on: April 03, 2017, 06:57:35 pm »
I made this bow last year at the Tennessee Classic. Spent to much time engaged in other activities and was rushing this bow to get it done in time to shoot the course in the challenge. Wasnt totally happy with the tiller and ended up shooting the course with it at a slightly shorter draw lenghth at a heavier weight than I wanted. When I got home I set it aside and ignored it untill a couple weeks ago. Anyway I finally finished tillering to where I was happy with it. Had some flathead catfish skin scraps left over from the last bow I made so I threw em on. Finished up at 52# @ 27".
68" TTT, 66 1/2" NTN. 12 strand fast flight string, cow horn tips.

I soaked then in dawn for a while before I scraped the flesh side. Then rised them well.

Beautiful work. Like DC said, the bend looks great and the finishing touches add class and style. Next time I catch cat I'm keeping the skins. They compliment the osage perfectly.

Sometimes those bows we stick in the corner call loud enough to get our attention later. This one sure shows it's appreciation.
Very nice work, Steve.

Thanks for the kind words. This is the third bow ive used flathead skins on and I realy like them. I want to get a hold of a big blue cat to see what they look like on a bow.

what a beauty! I love the pinhole and the contrast provided by leaving some wood showing past the skin on the back.  What kind of glue do you use for backing that skin?
Thanks,
George
