knotty Hickory Selfbow

This hickory Selfbow is really a nifty piece of wood. It has large knots about 10 inches from either tip almost perfectly symmetrical about the handle. It pulls 43 pounds at 28 inches and is a very sweet shooter. It has a buffalo horn arrow rest and rosewood tip overlay and is finished with 6 coats of Waterlox tung oil finish. This bow is made from a single piece of wood taken from a tree cut in the same woods that I took these pictures. This bow has taken nearly zero set during the shooting in process and despite the crazy wavy wood and knots it has a great feel to it. Its finished with waterlox tung oil.

That's really cool, I like it when people make bows from wood a lot of people would turn down. Nice work

That's a really sweet bow, I like how the knots are layed out and its simplicity. Pictures are nice, too. Where ya at?

Looks great. The dry winter helps with the set. I like to heat treat my hickory, seems to help keep it more stable in the humid summer.
