Black gravel
« on: January 24, 2017, 11:57:57 am »
found this rock in some local landscaping. Black is an unusual color in gravel so I worked my way to it and got a mostly black point, I'd a done better to git rid of the black cause the brown sure flaked better.

Thanks much!
This is only the second piece I ever seen with black like that in it, but the black in this one was grainy where the other one was slick, which is why I went for the black in this one, thinking it would be slicker than it turned out to be.

Was that gravel already broken?  Looks like "river rock". Nice work!

thanks
hawk dancer the gravel was already broke when I picked it up, and it is a river rock I guess you could say.
It is quarried out of ancient river beds to the west of here and way above the current river levels.

Glis Glis, I could make a vid I guess.
I know someone who has a one, he videoed me making something at the SW LA knap in this past November. It went real good and turned out nice and only took fifteen minutes.
I'll see if I can get a copy of that.
