Dustybaer- There are tip overlays on this bow.  They just happen to be the same color as the dye job.   It is some sort of South American hardwood.

My daughter is now asking for her very own "snake" bow.  Good thing I cut some smaller cane shafts last summer.  She wold love to follow me around with a  mini-bow and turkey fletched cane arrows.

I figured learning as much as possible from the many extremely talented bowyers form this site would give me a good foundation.  Once the fundamentals are in place, then I can create my owns style and innovations.  I already have a few new ides (for me) stored away for my next bow.  Last night I scraped and straightened a dozen hazelnut shoot arrows to go with the bow.  I also have permission to hunt deer in the orchard that I harvested the stave and shoot arrows from.  That would really be special to take a deer with the natural materials the orchard provided.  Now if I could only find some knappable rock lying around the same place.
