8 point down
« on: October 18, 2016, 08:32:44 am »
Luck was on my side this past weekend as this was my first chance to get in the woods this year. Hadn't sit there more than an hour when this guy and one of his buddies walked by. I took a shot at him at 15 yards and missed with the arrow sailing right over his back. He took a couple of jumps and stopped so I sent another arrow right into his ribs this time. He ran about 75 yards or so and piled up. I know it wasn't a selfbow kill but I was super excited to get this deer nonetheless. In fact I can't remember being that excited in a while about a deer kill. The bow is a bear grizzly that I've been hunting off and on with for 10 years or so. Thanks for looking.

Great job! That's a nice buck man.

Nice shooting and nice buck. Good on you for being ready for that second shot. It usually doesn't happen that way but a good hunter is always ready for it if it does.

Thanks for all the compliments and kind words fellas. Pat, I usually try to keep my quiver within easy reach but I have to admit getting another arrow out of that quiver and on the string was no easy task with this guy standing at 15 yards and looking around trying to figure out what just happened  :o. And to add to that his buddy, a smaller 8 point, was standing almost directly under me while all this was happening. Sometimes it's just your day I guess.
