High quality hickory stave wanted
« on: July 29, 2016, 06:27:39 pm »
I got a cop nagging me to teach him how to build a bow.  The guy has crazy woodworking skills along the lines of the carvings that Ruddy Darter has been taunting us with.  I have no doubt his first will exceed my latest but I still wanna use hickory due to it's indestructibility and love of low humidity climates.  I also don't wanna have him worry about pin knots and character grain that is in so much osage these days, though Lord knows this guy will prolly cut a swath thru osage country when he gets his wheels turning!!!

He says he has been talking with other fellow boys in blue and about a dozen wanna make bows too, so this might get out of hand fast!

LOL, anyone got a stash of pipe straight hickory they wanna work a deal over?

I think about half this is hickory the other half is elm. I can dig through it better if you are interested.

Thanks, I am working on getting the guys to firm up their plans to do this.  Hope to have some firm numbers in a few days.
