BBB James Parker Blanks

I got this blank from James Parker at the Tn. Classic, It was 1-1/2" wide x 70" long
He is a great guy, and knows his bow's
Bamboo back and belly, ipe core. The belly is carbonized.
66" NTN
35@28
1-3/8" at the fades and 5/16" at the nocks
Shoots awesome and quite, bare string.

when you scrape the corners you can tell the belly is harder than the back.




It did not have a finish on it like his others so I did it myself.













I don't know what kind of wood the riser is, but when I put shellac on the riser to seal it the grain raised a lot.

I don't know what kind of bamboo it is but he sanded  the nodes some, back and belly and the string groove is filed into the back.

anybody have any info on this?????????????????????

Sweet profile of a centershot bow and the type being carbonized on the belly not seen too often on here either.Can't help you out about the string knocks though.Never seen that either.

Nice! Sweet shape. You really carbonized the bamboo...

what would happen without the ipe core? It'd be a weaker bow?

I would guess you floor tillered, carbonized, then tillered with heat??.. or just normally by scraping the belly?

The nocks cut like that doesn't hurt anything. They are not all of the way through the bamboo. And Bamboo is pretty tough stuff.

and the nodes where sanded down a good bit
look at picture #4 the node all the way left on the picture.
