Is that the pith I can see down part of the centre of the belly?  Is the belly generally flat?  Did you leave the back as the round under-bark surface?
I've cut a couple of black wattle (Acacia decurrens) and bluegum (Eucalyptus globulus) saplings of a similar size to play with and am considering something similar for them once they're a bit drier.

Yes, it is the pith, Cadet. I remove it with a hot awl as soon as I see it appearing while I'm working on the belly side.
Yes, for sapling bows I always let the belly flat (with rounded corners) and the back as round as it is, even I round more than in the belly side the corners that appear (I try to make lower limb back relief similar to upper' limb...at least in sapling woods as conical as hackberry)
Go for that black wattle bows waiting for you under those staves, Cadet !!!

Great looking bow!  I'm gonna have to build one out of hackberry.  I've got about 10 staves that are a year plus into drying.  Do you toast your belly?  Great bow.  I'll bet it's a real shooter.
