Thanks Joe!

Joe sent me a whole box of myrtle bowl blanks and wood blocks and I sent him a couple rocks.

I couldn't wait to tie into that myrtle and in short order came up with a purty little bowl.

This wood is very nice to turn! Thanks Joe!

Over the years I have met some incredibly talented people at the classic. I could name several of them but we all know who they are.  Scott is one of them that has incredible skills and more than that he is a giving and humble man.  So lucky to have met him.  Joe

All of those look great! I agree that is purty wood.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short. Amen.

Cool stuff! LOL I used to trade wood bowl blanks for Brazilian
agate slabs.

That's is some gorgeous wood work.. How thick do your blanks for a bowl start out?

Don, I bet that agate was beautiful! I'm kind of a wood whore and always trading for something pretty.

Lumber man, I like blanks that are 3" deep, but 2 1/2" will work and 6"-9" circles is all I can handle on this lathe.

Nice bowl stringman! How does that myrtle turn? My last bowl gave me a lot of grief- I need to start looking for stuff that turns nicer.

So far I've turned red oak, sycamore, black locust, Osage, maple, basswood, walnut and myrtle. This myrtle turns about as nice as any of them except Osage is the nicest. Walnut is the most difficult, but looks the best if finished nicely.

Another couple I made this morning... Myrtle on the left walnut on the right.
