Ok count me in.   I'm a better knapper, but I have been working on a few bows lately.

Hi all!  I will also be participating in this trade.  While I was thinking about doing something like this next year (after a few more bows under the belt) and even though I haven't been super active in posting, I really want to do something for this site as I've learned so much from all the great bowyers here!  I also want to be part of the solution to the tarnish that's built up on the bow swap.  This site has such a great community, it needs something like this to help restore some faith.

With that said:

Right Hand
40-50 lbs
30-32 inches (yes, I do have a 31" draw... I'm newer to bow building but I've been practicing with "traditional" archery equipment for a while now)

While I would intend to hunt whitetail with this bow (and would appreciate a bow that's not 6' long!), I do know a longer draw length does provide for challenges when it comes to limb length.  At the end of the day, a nice shooting bow is all I could ask for, regardless of length.

I'll start preparing materials this weekend.  I can't wait to build something for someone other than family member, it'll be fun!!

All of you are welcome here to what I believe will be the best bow trade ever. I love your attitude!!!
I found many years ago that it is much easier and more rewarding working with those that don't know anything than those that know it all.

Why not a 6' longbow, Ty?  It's not like there are any trees in North Dakota for you to run afoul!  Bwaaahahaha! (I get to poke fun if ND, it's my home state.)
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Got a hat like that this Christmas from the nieces. Man, the ear loppers are boss. Wish I'd had it last winter. Only problem is I can't hear much through them, like the neighbor yelling at her 11 untrained dogs all day.

Not.
I love it when a plan B comes together....

:P The lack of trees also means finding good bow woods from local sources is a challenge.  Most people put in poplar and cottonwoods for their shelter belts (we're too far north for osage to survive)... Supposedly there are hackberry trees throughout the eastern river edges (where I live), but I haven't gone looking yet.  It sounds like a fun challenge, though!

I dug through my stash last night and pulled a this piece of wood out of my pile.

I started reducing it down to bow dimensions.

This is a wood I haven't seen bows of on this site so I will see how it bends.  I also have a piece of elm, black locust and ironwood roughed out for plans b, c, and d.
