Here's a tool my Robin has been using lately.It's called a lucet.It'll braid a very nice cord for you in a hurry.It was used back in the Viking and Medieval days.Going to a U tube will show ya how it's done.There is a hole through it too you can just see behind the braid.

She has'nt told me yet but I can see it can be used for bag straps at least just off hand.
