Back in the early 90's I made my younger brother Spiro a black locust bow that I called "Strongbow".
Spiro was a big, strong man.
This bow is in his memory.
I haven't done a BL bow in years primarily because I could not find a stave without borer holes.
This bow has a prominent knot in the lower limb, is twisted a bit and pulls 47# at 25".
I left a layer of sapwood immediately above the heartwood because the stave was not wide enough to go all heartwood which is my preference for BL.
Actually, the sapwood is changing color.
I am not showing many photos because I intend to write this up for PA magazine after the holidays.
The bow is done except for the handle covering and finish coat. I am leaving it natural.
May Spiro's memory be eternal.
Braced.
