It's quite a bit I started to shyly trying flintknapping.
I use mainly glass and started with copper tools pressure
Lately I'm making a sort of abo conversion using hammerstone but i clearly lack precision
Is that a silly idea to fix a smaller hammerstone on a wood handle to try to accomplish greater precision?
It has that allready been done?
If you want to follow in the path of Native American knappers, the almost universal description was that they held the biface in a small piece of leather, in the left hand. And, they struck downwards, on the edge, with a hammerstone held in the right hand.
It sounds simple. But, it actually involves many subtle sub-skills to master. That being said, I would suggest watching every hammerstone video that you can find, on Youtube. One of the best hammerstone videos I ever saw was of a Mexican obsidian worker. He is super skilled probably because he flintknaps all day long.
