looking for knapping tools
« on: November 05, 2015, 10:13:23 pm »
I keep seeing all this rock on my jobsites and keep thinking ,"i wish i could find my tools."  I know i had some but I can't find them anywhere so im looking to get some new ones.

I would like to g r t a small copper bopper and a larger one as well. I have the leather pads and abrasive wheels, also a few small pressure flakers, so if you wanna trade some boppers, let me know. I have a bunch of stuff like most of us do. A fairly new farriers rasp, a drawknife, a few antlers, turkey feathers, staves, steel shims for making trade points, i can make strings, (although they dont look very nice, but they do work, miscellaneous used broadheads, hide glue, a left helical fletching jig... just a lot of stuff. Let me know. Thanks.

copper boppers are easy to make.a piece of osage or mulberry {heavy wood} with a cap of copper {you need to use a small rounded stick on the inside and hammer that stick untill that cap gets rounded. anyways then find a piece of osage or mulberry that is going to fit snug inside that cap. a little glue and presto chango you have a nice bopper. and as for copper flakers, just need a stick, drill a hole just a tad smaller than the copper wire your going to use and glue and press it inside the hole in the stick.heck i used a elbow {copper} soldiered to some copper pipe. filled it with sand and capped the end. worked like a charm. it was just some junk laying around.ive also used nails i pull out of my wood stove when i burn 2x4s and stuff. once they are in that stove then cool slow a nail makes a nice flaker....if you already have antler it makes a great flaker as it is.Tony

I've got a set of three boppers I might be willing to trade. I'll send a pm and we can go from there.

Thanks for the offer fredie, but I may have a trade worked out. I should know in a few days.
