Loon, that is the plan. I will be making another bow to replace this one, but once time allows, I hope to splice in a straight lever of osage. I think there is just enough meat in the transition from limb to lever to allow for a clean and sturdy splice.

It felt like someone punched me in the stomach when I read your edited title.   :( :'(  That really sucks. I'm sure you can make it better than it was before.

For me, it was in the groin region.  :o ;D

That is the plan...to make an even better bow.

That sucks Carson, you always hope it'll happen a little earlier on, not after you do all the finish work.
For sure attempt to splice in a new lever!

Real pity, really. Looks like some lateral tension from the whoop caused it. That was a gorgeous bow. You might splice in some light, straight Levers. But I suspect you still have one left on rack, no?  ;)
Don't shoot!

Stuff happens.  The bow is beautiful work.  You'll be better because of the accident.

its still a killer attempt and it was gorgeous while it lasted. You owe it the rest of the bow to splice in the lever. If anyone can do it you can.

Man, that is a shame, that whoop was pretty cool looking.  Can't wait to see your fix.

I have come to the conclusion, that if you have a curve like that,, it is good to slightly overbuild,,, I think it causes more stress on the wood than straight,,
nice bow, and I am sure you can splice and fix,, thanks for sharing all the info ,, very insightful,,  :)

In one of the pre break photo's some of the rings near the back look pretty thin  near the levers. Thin rings can definitely make the difference with osage if unbacked.

You might have mentioned it earlier but did the bow go whilst bracing or shooting?

Man I hate it when that happens, especially when it has gone to someone else, good luck with the repair, I am sure with your talent you will come up with something, we all push the limits a bit from time to time, sometimes they bite us.  :)
