Here are some pics. of a bow I recently "rebuilt". It started out as a blank from Gary Davis. It was the first bow I ever worked on about 2 years ago. I rushed it, it was over weight, the tiller was crappy - and overall I made a lame bow out of a great blank.
So while I'm waiting for some wood to dry, I decided to rebuild it and try some things that I've never done before. I first cut off 4" from each tip. I then re-tillered it to 5# over target weight. Next I recurved the tips using a heat gun and form, and added black walnut tip overlays. I also snakeskinned the back, wrapped the handle with buckskin, and made silencers from a fisher pelt. The bow finished at 60# at 26" and is 60" nock to nock.
Thanks to all those who post how-to's and answered all my questions. It sure makes the learning curve easier.
