Scraping around knots

I'm scraping around what's left of a big knot in  piece of Douglas Maple and the grain is causing the scraper to chatter and lift fuzz. Is there a secret to working this kind of stuff or do I just keep changing directions and using a file or sandpaper.

Like you said, switch to a different tool, or change the direction of your scraping.  I get good results when I hold the scraper at a 45 degree angle but still pull parallel to the bow, then I switch to the other 45 and repeat.  I hope that makes sense

Just sand the area.

I kinda thought so but it doesn't hurt to check. I coulda been doing something unnecessary for the rest of my life. Thanks

Now be careful there. Looks like a pretty large knot.
It does not look like you left the area wider.
How are you compensating for the knot?
Knots are weak spots.
When I tiller a knotted area I leave it slightly stiffer than the rest of the limb.

Thanks for the concern Jawge. I'm well past the knot. I'm in the wood that flows around the knot and it is a bit thicker(stiffer). I'm shooting it in now. We'll see how it goes.
