Del's "Take 5" Sculpture

I've made this for a local exhibition of art on the theme "Jazz".
This is supposed to represent Dave Brubeck's famous piece "Take 5", I'm sure all you guys as young as me ;) will recognise the piece.

Very cool, Del. Do the uprights follow the "Take Five" melody?   8)  One of my favorite pieces of music.  ;)

Ta' guys.
Pat,
The uprights are beat, (the rhythm) Bada ba da da da  Bada ba da da da which comes in first for about 8 bars, although I've cut it down to 2 else the sculpture would be too long ;D .
The sweep of Yew is the sax, melody.
I'm not very musical so I struggled a bit working it out... got some help from the musical side of the family. I also tapped out the beat on a mic' hooked up to an oscilloscope at work so I could see it ;D
The blobs on the top of the uprights are the accentuated beat, the Ba
the brass verticals are more stacato sax that appears later.. about 10 foot further along ;)
There's a couple of blue notes in there to hold up the Yew :laugh:
One of the hard things is knowing when to stop adding stuff... less is more sometimes.
I did some sketches and a model first (pic attached).
It was fun to make, a bit like one of those kids toys, sticking pegs into holes and threading beads on to 'em... it gave me a break from making bows, as the last one I did was a real pig, a BBY ELB that needed loads of repeated sideways correction before it would settle down and come back straight.

Brubek was a freak, innovative and still capable of some mass appeal! "Take 5" is one of the catchiest tunes out of his time. 

I think this sculpture captures that mood perfectly.  Wow! Thanks for sharing.

Love Brubeck and love the sculpture, Del. That base would also be great for using as a form for bending recurves.

Here's the tough question, Del. If a musician walked up to your sculpture cold, no hints, do you think he could deduce(word of the day) that this was "Take 5"? I think it's  a wonderful rendition and knowing the tune I can sort of follow it. I also think it would be interesting even if I didn't know what it was. I'm impressed that you came up with this when just a couple of weeks ago you said you were searching for an idea. Well done.
