Ok this rock is extremely hard almost like a glassy texture to it. any info is appreciated.

Where did it come from? Can you give a couple high def. photos of it with good detail?

It came from a nearby creek bed . In Jefferson city Missouri if that helps.

You can see where I've taken a few flakes off but developed ridges.

     Well that pretty much rules out Obsidian.   It could be the black Noviculite, which demands high prices from the Arkansas stone manufactures.

I don't know but like what I see where you took the flakes off.

I am not sure geoloigically where it exists. I know there is nome in North Arkansas, so I will guess Pitkin Chert. If you break off a healthy flake, smell it and it smells sulphurous, or like burnt motor oil, that would confirm the guess.

ok cool ill check it in a while but I found a lot of it but very small pieces all extremely straight without any type of knapping. After I took a flake off I wanted to get an I'd and keep it for examples to find larger pieces

Looks like a chunk of slag from glass furnace. Are you downstream or near any industrial sites? I'm with mullet, flakes look good, get more and make some points.

The cortex does look melted and has air bubbles.

No industrial sites that I am aware of but it's possible. I'll post some pics after I finish one.

Slag was my first thought also, but I am way down on the food chain when it comes to identifying rock.
