Polk Salad Annie, 51" of bad attitude
« on: February 15, 2015, 01:37:16 pm »
Thought I'd make a short, rigid handled board bow cause I seen all the " boards are OK for second choices and mediocre performers so here's what I made up.

Polk Salad Annie (mean, vicious, straight-razor totin woman)
51" grey elm, rigid handle, mollegabet style, and 25" of working limb, standing grain, self bow
64# @ 21" , about 1/4" of limb set
Performance, not mediocre

The pics are of her in the white so ya can see it's a self bow, no patches, backing, heat treating etc. The full draw is indoors (my wife refuses to go out when it's 24 below zero)

enjoy the pics, there are quite a few pics with rulers in ,em but if you want/need any dimensions say so and I'll put the mic to her.

Thanks you guys. Hope to do her justice with the finish, I'm into the whole neolithic look now so maybe some dark plant stain and some black line cave art.

nice one, I like the short girls best, as long as they are well proportioned like this one.
I agree with how you slightly with-tapered the bending parts.
I've been wondering wether the taper should be like in a pyramid bow or less.
Don't shoot!

 Rich,
Nice work at every angle...Awesome unstrung profile for that much working limb at that weight! :o I can tell that's a quick one... 8) I'll be sure to check back in for the paint...

Sweet!  That is impressive to have that little set on a bow that short.
I don't have the skills to make one like that, but you've got me interested in grey elm. :)
