I was hoping to put this off for awhile, but I guess I'm only getting older. I tagged my buddy for a favor and we decided today was the day. 



We had some smaller trees to get out of the way and cut the logs out to use for firewood. Hauled a nice load up to the house before we ever got to the main course.




The tree on the far left was my target for today.





Shore was nice to have a heavy lifter!







I ended up with 5-6 good clean sections and probably a few more billet sized pieces. This was a good day! Ok so who's not busy tmw?  ;D

Wait a minute.  That's cheating  >:(  Flat ground and equipment to load the logs for you.  You need to pack those out on your shoulder up a steep hill.   

Just kidding.  Glad  you got that tree down and putting it to good use.  Can't wait to see the pile of staves you get from it.

Looks like you have some good fire wood there.  You know Osage burns super hot.  Lol >:D

Where ya guys cutting that stuff..? Here in Canada in most areas they will skin you alive......   >:D........... for cutting logs that big.   Some firewood here sells for 7 bd.ft. after its been milled.  And that is insane considering Alder is a weed tree out west.

Clint, its not as big as the monster, but it sure was a lot easier gettin it to the house! :laugh:

Greg, it does have a lot of checks in the heart. I'm hoping it makes it easier to bust open and doesn't cause me too much grief.

Tim, osage is not my favorite for a wood stove. But with wisdom it can be used to great effect.

Bow, I am blessed to live in an area that is overflowing with osage. This tree is one that I was afraid the property would sell and I'd lose it. That's the ONLY reason I cut it down.

Man, you're lucky to have that much Osage growing in your area.......we have none in NW NC.  You should be building bows for a long time.  Enjoy!

Good score man. I had the good fortune of having my last one hauled outta the woods with a similar rig as you guys had.  I've done what Cling was saying about hauling up hill out of the woods on your shoulders. I really prefer someone else do the heavy lifting.
