A couple of recurves
« on: November 16, 2014, 03:25:41 am »
I got a couple of recurves finished up recently and seeing as I haven't posted any of my bows in a while I thought I'd show you them.
This first one is a sinew backed labernum. 43#@27 and shoots really nicely. t holds a 3 1/8th inch of reflex after shooting  :) Fast but I haven't had a chance to chrono it yet. It has a lovely stackless draw and it's quite nice shooting 43# after months just shooting my heavier hornbow.

And here's the other...self osage 52# @ 27 . This one holds about 1 inch reflex after shooting and is again very pleasant to shoot..no stack and a very flat arrow  :)

Nice bows as always Mike, I like the leather of that grip, has a nice aged look and lovely tight stitching, got an old school look.
That Laburnum is V handsome.
BTW, do I recall you saying Buddleia makes a decent bow? I've been cutting back some in our garden and got a 5' x 3" piece.

Cheers Del, umm I don't think it was me who told you about buddleia. I've never used it. Got to be worth a try though!

Nicely done alround, Mike. And as the others said the leather work is great also!

Some questions:
any chance for f/d pics?
is the sinew that thin or transparent on that laburnum, I cannot see it  -- perhaps my eyes?
why did you back that Laburnum? seems it is long enough to live without backing?
how long are that bows?

good to see bows from you again
