Gonna be a long night
« on: November 06, 2014, 09:14:47 pm »
I hunted  this afternoon and had five bucks come by me no good shots on the first 4 , and one was a REAL nice deer 19'' 8pt. About 15 mins after he left another good one walked right under me , shooting down at 7-10yds nailed it a little back , but not real far. The big problem is no pass through. He no doubt about it has one deflated airbag and probably a nicked liver. We found good blood and frothy bubble blood one a few willow trunks. We (wisely) backed out for the night , and will pick up at first light. It's as thick as a jungle on that part of the farm. The arrow was buried to the crest 29'' arrow and he is still wearing it. Its a 125gr muzzy three blade with the wood grain carbons shot from a 60lb Widow. I totally focused on a spot and hit about 4'' further back than I meant with rearward angle. I looked at the horns long enough to know he was (as Dp would say) " a gooder " Wish me luck guys and hopefully next post will be pics and  ;D

Best of luck!

I bet he didn't go far.   It's cold tonight so it won't hurt meat staying out overnight.  Looking forward to seeing some trophy pictures tomorrow.  Good luck!

Sounds like a lethal shot.  Good judgment backing out.  Way better than pushing and losing him.  Can't wait to see the pics.

Best of luck on the recovery. I know only too well the wound up toss and turn all night feeling of having an unrecoverd deer still in the woods.

Well tracked for about another 500yds across cut beanfield. He has now gone into WRP which is worse than thick , I talked to landowner of WRP ground and he gave me greenlight , so quick bite of lunch and I'm going back out. Believe me, Clint the suspense is really killing me. We also saw buzzards circling over WRP.
