New shop
« on: September 24, 2014, 05:07:21 pm »
I've been waiting to get out of my garage and into a little more privacy for a long time.  I'm in the city limits so this has been some kind of hassle to plan.  Been quite a process of permitting, approval, etc.
Finally I got the side yard cleared and leveled.  An old grapefruit tree had to go to bring in the shipping container that should be delivered FRIDAY!!! Had to say goodbye to my old knappin' pit but I'll just have to find a spot for a new one.
Gotta put the shipping container down on a bed of rocks for proper drainage and then the whole thing will have to be secured into the ground and strapped for hurricane code.

Once the container is in and inspected then it'll be time to run the power out...
I'll pour a slab around the perimeter and have an outdoor work area with an overhang and bench, etc.
My wife already wants to build a deck on top of the roof with a stair way going up to the top for an observation deck. ::)

I'll post pictures as I go.  Here is the prep work...

Hahaha, this is awesome!  You should get a pool too so you can jump off the deck into the pool.  I can't wait to see the finished product!
Florida to Kwajalein to Turkey and back in Florida again.  Good to be home but man was that an adventure!

A spring board would get you to the pool.  ;)

Glad you got all of that crap worked out with the city. That's what happens when you live in a town that more Yankees and Europeans than real Floridians.

No argument here, my friend.  The city of Naples is absurd with this stuff and I've got one of the code inspectors that lives down the street.  She is a German lady that must have been a product of the old hardliners...you know, "Veee have our vays" type!  ;D

I'm counting it down and can't wait 'til it arrives!

Thanks guys.

That's exciting Steve-O!

That's easy prep work.  Up here any building, other than a shed, has to be supported with a foundation 4' below grade.
