lost my touch
« on: August 11, 2014, 10:44:23 pm »
I'm trying to get some arrows made up for deer season and I'm struggling a bit  with the points.  It's been about a year and a half since I did any Knapping.  It's like starting from scratch.  It sure ain't like riding a bike.  This is the first point (attempt) since May 2013.  I blew the ear off notching and managed to straighten it up and still be legal dimensions.  It sure ain't pretty though.  Thanks for looking.  Josh

Nice save, Josh, but you could have made meat with a missing ear.

Josh,  I believe it was Jesse who once told me that if you go more than 3 weeks you start to lose accuracy, I also seen some of Jesse points after a long lay off and as usual they were perfect. :o Nice to see ya back and you are not to rusty, lookin good. Bob

Some states won't let you hunt with a barb, so go ahead and make a set! I've got a whole box of those as well, cause I really like the corner notch point. So after an ear breaks off that's all you can do. Hate when that happens :o

Thanks fellas!  I was planning on attempting some more this week while sitting around LA for a couple days, but it was too darn hot.  I'm considering stopping at the Loveland pass summit today before I get to Denver and trying again.  It should be cooler at 11,000 ft and the view is breathtaking!  Thanks again fellas!  Josh
