A few home mades

My bow was kind of loud, and gave me massive slap burn (More like deep tissue bruising), so I took some time and made some string silencers, and a slap guard. The silencers are made out of hand spun yarn, made from my 29 pound Maine Coon and dyed orange. The slap guard is bamboo sewn into leather.

The string will bounce off that slick bamboo with minimum drag spoiling your shot, same reason I used stingray.

So let me get this clear, The bamboo that protects my arm should be rough to not spoil a shot? The only place my string touches my arm is about 4 inches back from my hand, Meaning that the arrow has already loosed itself from the string. Also, wouldn't a rough material be too abrasive on your string? Isn't tanned Saddle leather also "slick"? Please continue to post on things, but try and not be critical of everything that you comment on. There are a lot of people on this forum that I would take that advice from and run with. You aren't one of them.

I think he meant that the drag caused by a rough surface could affect your shot, and the smooth bamboo will prevent that. Either way it's pretty cool.

re read his post. He said he uses Sting Ray, Sting Ray skin is rough. Thanks for the compliment, I like i and it saves my arm.

The arm guard is pretty cool, but your bow looks like the brace height is to low

Yep, In that photo it is very low. I went to shoot it last night and noticed right away. It was sitting at about 5 inches. More than likely from putting on the string silencers it became untwisted.

I have a 30 pound Maine Coon. I joke every time I brush him that I am going to make a sweater from his fur. It is fine, and softer then Alpaca. They seem to be working well. A little has come off, but most is staying put.

Nice stuff and I have been threatening to do the same to our maine coon.  She is almost 16 years old and not even clise to the 30 pound mark, but still lots of soft fur.

We give ours a lion cut, funny as all get out on a MC. Increase your brace an inch or so and your guard wont be needed.
