missed it by that much
« on: June 17, 2014, 07:17:43 pm »
this was my stab at the backpack challenge31" ttt and 36# @ 15", it is 30" at the "nocks", it's just tied on with no cut in nocks, a sliver of a maple board, I deflexed it just a tad and flipped the tips a little to try and help with the string angle but it is pretty tight on these paws, my fault it didn't make 45#, if I make another i'll go a little longer, I think 42"

Loosen that right limb up half way and pull it another 2-3", you got room according to that string angle.

Awesome effort Bubby. What was the killer? What was the profile? I personally think that was good work with a board.

jon, I think the killer was that last 1/4", I had 16 1/2" draw from 30", 1 1/2" past half the length, I got greedy and thought maybe i'd get 17",middle 8" was 1 1/8" wide and straight taper to a point, no cut in nocks just a slip knot and a bowyers knot with some half hitches, I did trap the back, I still think I could get 22" with a 42" board, deflex it slightly and flip the tips and get 45#

I've seen your tillering and I know you can Bubby. Don't deflex it too much or you may run out of draw weight before you get it to full draw.

Nice effort, Bubby. You got a lot of bend from that stick.  8)
