Sinew backed Osage recurve
« on: June 17, 2014, 02:44:21 am »
Just finished this one up. 54 inch ntn, pulling 47 @ 28. One heavy course of sinew and one stripe down the center, covered with  East Texas Copperhead skins. 1 1/4" at the fades to 3/8" nocks. Slight bend in the handle at full draw. The grip is Kangaroo lace with a floppy rest. The underlays are Walnut and the tips are Chechen. The skins are sealed with Poly and everything else is hand rubbed with Linseed and steel wool.   This stave had a bad deflexed dog leg coming right out of the handle, after two failed attempts at trying heat it out I just deflexed the other limb to match and went with it. It took no set. This little bow is surprisingly quick for such a light bow and is very stable for being so short.  Quite as a mouse, dead in the hand and a pure joy to shoot. Thanks for looking, Dan

Tallpine, that is a first rate bow.  I love everything about it.  I bet with that deflex near the handle it shoots sweet as can be.   Your finishing work is beautiful.
