Bamboo/Ipe Bow: The Experiment
« on: May 06, 2014, 03:20:30 am »
a few months back i built my first bamboo backed ipe and i was really impressed with its performance.
i got an email from a guy who wanted a similar one, i agreed but i wanted to experiment a little with the dimensions. made the bamboo a little thicker in some areas and narrowed up the belly stock, played with the tiller a bit. Boy did it pay off! this is hands down THE fastest bamboo backed bow ive ever make. (not to toot my own horn) i am very pleased with the way this bow shoots.
sorry for the poor FD shot no one was around to take the pic for me....

made for one of the united states finest marine snipers, on his way home from Afghanistan.

63" NTN
50#@26"
osage accents and power lam.
bison horn nock overlays
and a little rattle snake skin.

free handed painting done by my good friend Asia Murray.

thanks for looking :)

What a ripping bow!!! Awesome stuff.
I still have the bow I finished a few weeks ago for a guy. It is the first bow I have ever backed with bamboo, and I don't want to send it to him! It is soooo fast.......
Beautiful job mate!

Sweet! Excellent job as always! Could you give a few more construction details please? I have some Ipe and boo waiting in the wings. Just a width at fades and thickness   of boo and Ipe would be a real help.
 Thanks, Dave.

What a combination! What would be the speed difference if this was backed with hickory strips?
Great work!

Man oh man! The artwork is great too man. I was really impressing with ipe when I was making the ash backed ipe bow I blew. Dumb mistake on my part. I bet it's a rocket! As always, beautiful work Bryce!
