Antique store find. Figure this ought to work for combing out the tough sinew into silky smooth sinew. Not sure what it is actually for.

A hair straightener? heat it up(note the heat proof handle) and comb out the curls.

Another good option I've found is to visit pet shops and buy some of the stouter pet combs for large dogs or horses. These are usually solid pieces of steel, and hold up well to the rigors of combing sinew.

Stop by your local flower shop and ask them to show you a "frog". It's a inside out pincushion of needle sharp points, works great for shredding sinews!

90% sure it's a horse mane comb designed for pulling manes. That would explain the broken teeth. To make a horse mane look neater the groom combs the mane and then winds the longer and thicker sections around the front of of the comb and yanks the hair out.

Hot comb from a US Regulator wood stove. Fit into a slot right next to the matching curling rod. Nice find. Often missing from most stoves, along with the curling rod an 3.5 pound iron...Mom and Dad had one in the kitchen when I was a kid in the 70's..They hadn't quite moved into the 20th Century yet...Or were still hung over from Woodstock...still not sure
