Blades from a core question
« on: March 03, 2014, 10:53:32 am »
Are the blades typically made into arrowheads? I always see people knocking them off cores but they never do anything with them. PaleomanJim made some Maquahuitls but thats about all I've seen.

I have made a few gun flints from the blades, notched and snapped. Most of the bladlets that I have knocked off seem to have alot of curve to them. Probably need to use a bigger nodule to start with. Bob

I made about 30 points out of thin blades driven off Burlington.  Is just about the easiest way to make quick survival type tools.
The core I found recently, had blades driven off big enough to make full sized Clovis points out of, almost dead straight, with parallel sides.  Easily large enough to make most knife blades seen.
Still would like to know for sure how they did that!
