cow horn??

picked this up for pennies,,but how do i get the layers to seperate ,since its horn within horn within horn.??  without destroying the last layer..thanks !

just cut a hunk out, the tip will be solid for a ways you still need to file it down to shape it for tips, maybe I could do a little how to on tip overlays if that would help ya out , bub

You can't grab that inside lip between thumb and forefinger and wiggle it out? How about a hot water soak for an hour or so then a wigggle?  Is it fresh?

if ya lool close it has about 5or6 different layers all inside the other...gonna try some hot water.

Boil it for a few minits. Worked for me,the inside will slip right out

Soak it warm water for a few hours.Hold the pointy end and give it a few whacks all around the horn. on a piece of softwood. The core should pop out. If it's really dry it might need a longer soak. It's been a while , but as I recall ,it took a bit of effort but nothing extra human ;)
