latest flint striker (norse)

I have been studying different styles of flint strikers from around the world.
it's amazing on how similar and yet how different the stylings are.
being of norwegian  decent some of the norse style strikers caught my fancy.
here's what I forged closely modeled after a striker I saw online.

Likely not bronze or copper.  From analysis of digital refraction of the photo he posted, I am going to guess steel, but Kevin will have to reveal exactly what exact allow it may have been.   >:D

Uff da, cousin!  I bet with just a little chisel work, you could make the one end of the striker face look like a dragon's head and you could flare his tail on the other end.

  Very nice.  Yer Norsk cousin has a point.  Wouldn't take much to make a nifty keen dragon fire tool!

     Just don't send one to him, I don't think it would be a good idea for him to be able to make fire, or have something with a sharp edge.  But look out, I think he has a flinch lock!  "Hey Cuz watch this!"

Wow, seeing all the things you've been posting has really gotten me thinking about learning how to forge. Do you have any good suggestions on books or resources for getting started?  I got "The $50 Knife Shop" for Christmas and it's on my "to read" pile.

the $50 knife shop is a great read along with blacksmithing basics for the homestead by Joe DelaRonde
also the backyard blacksmith by Lorelei Sims  these books will help greatly with explaining techniques and terminology.
also some very nice projects in these reads to help hone your smithing skills
