Elm flat with cherry bark handle 56/28 (No. 35)
« on: January 12, 2014, 05:21:34 am »
For some reason I couldn't be here for a long time. I have missed this place so much!
Now I'm back in bowmaking again– here is the first, a simple straight stick.
She is a 62” symmetrical bow – handle exact in the geometrical middle. She is heavy heat treated, no stain on the belly! The back is dyed to match with the belly. The outer lines of the limbs are sanded to get the bright stripes. Handle is gentle bending. Overlays are osage, standing rings and very small – only ¼” at kerf. The handle is dressed with one piece of cherry bark and yarn wrappings, the upper works as arrow pass. No shelf.

Another stunning Bow Sir ! Great profile, bet it's really fast. Really like the grip also - Bob.

Been a while.  Nice to see a new one of your bows.  How long did you heat treat each section?  I love the slender front view profile.

Simson, That bow is perfect sir, the shape is perfect, the color is perfect, and that "half circle" is perfect......and then you had to go and add that cherry bark grip, also perfect 8) I sure hope that it gets to the huntin woods at least once......I'm blown away.
