Straight blade for veritas dowel cutter?

So, i need to make some arrows, but the blade from my 3/8" dowel cutter has gone dull, and the idea of having to sharpen that round blade is troubling me a bit. But, I noticed that they are now offering a straight replacement blade for the dowel cutter. Has anybody tried using a straight blade, or does anybody have any idea as to how this might affect the cutting ability of the tool? It would certainly be a hell of a lot easier to sharpen.

According to the Lee Valley site, the straight blade is for "tapered tenons". So, perhaps that would just turn my dowel maker into a big pencil sharpener? I dunno.

I'm pretty sure the straight blade is for cutting a tapered tenon, and won't work for a dowel (shaft).

I dont see why the it wouldnt work.I have sharpened my round blade many times and it not much trouble.If you do it on a grinder use a fine grit stone and then I have used some wet or dry sand paper on a sanding block to touch up.
