My 1st Knife
« on: December 12, 2013, 10:28:55 pm »
I've been wanting to make a knife for quite some time, so I decided to take the time to see if I could make one.  It was an average attempt, but I learned a lot from this project.  I'm looking forward to making another one.  All I have in this knife is time.  I had the horn, the stainless steel pins were cut from a rod I found laying around the shop, and the blade was made from an old concrete saw blade that a guy gave me.  Any suggestions would be welcomed.  :)

I'd say it looks pretty good!  8) Not too shabby for your first. Looking forward to seeing your second.

cool first knife.
question did you have to anneal the handle portion so you could drill the holes for the pins  or was the blade soft enough to drill?
again very cool first knife

Thanks everyone.  I appreciate the kind words. I'm already thinking about the next knife project. KHalverson,I didn't annel before drilling and I had no problem.  I'd like to try and forge one from scrap steel.  That'll have to wait though. :)

Nice Knife. I would suggest making a nice heavy leather sheath and carrying it with pride...
