All kinds of cool character in that bow Weylin. Beautiful dye and finish work, color combos and handle wrap all pull together nicely. Also like the back profile and snaky shape and looks like a smooth shooter to boot. Excellent work!

Thanks Paul. It's actually easier than it looks. I stained the whole section dark brown first. Then I stained the beginning black and saturated it well. Then I used a successively drier rag and rubbed in the transition until I got out to the faintest traces of black with a very dry rag. I hope that makes sense. I can explain it further if you'd like. I've only done this with the leather dye which is alcohol based. I don't know how it would work with other types of stain but I imagine it could work similarly.
Makes perfect sense. Thanks

 Weylin,
That sir is a beautiful bow...As your title says for a good fiend, he must be a special guy. That is a special bow and it would be a shame not to enter it in Bow of the month...absolutely beautiful

That handle wrap is great!  I have got to learn to do that.  Really sets that bow off.  Nice work.

That is one pretty bow.  Great job.  I have a mountain maple on that I am putting the finishing touches on with similar specs, but shorter.  Keep up the good work.  Can't wait to see the next one :)
