New Bow for Friend's Son
« on: September 27, 2013, 12:45:46 am »
Took my time on this one and am super happy with how it came out. It is 48" red oak (other half of the 8 footer I made my son's bow out of) with cherry riser. Pulls 22# @ 16" with a leather, B50 and crazyglue grip. Backed with rawhide (dog bone) stained dark, with more B50 and superglue 5" from the all wood tips. So far my third bow, and I feel each has been better then the last. This was my first time trying a wrapped grip and it came out way better than I had hoped.

I am really hoping to get lucky and find some different wood types this weekend so I can branch out some and try something else. Hope you all like, and any tips or constructive criticism gladly accepted.

Now that is sweet,he should love that. Nice job, way to pass it on to kids. ;) :) We defiantly need more of them into archery and out of the house. ;) :) :)

Great gesture. Giving a kid a bow is a great feeling.

Thanks! I think I may start liking this whole bow-making thing if I'm not careful. ;)

Ha!  Sounds like it's too late!  Someone should have warned you this stuff can be habit forming.

I think kids bows may be the most satisfying builds of all.
