Yup... that's where they came from. Buy the smaller skins. The nodes are smaller, they look better on the grip, they're easier to cut, and they're a bit cheaper. But, they aren't cheap! $25 a pop, and you get 1 grip!

Is it Legal to use Belt Sanders on this Site?!  :)

Love the Stingaree Grips...
I have been studying some Stingray hides from Tandy.
They are some Bloody Tough Stuff.
How did you punch your holes for lacing or sewing?
I have about decided to use my Drill Press...
My brand new leather punch won't get the job done.

I didn't punch holes or lace the grips. I skived the edges and did a simple overlap on the back side, holding the grip in place with contact cement. You're right, bloody near impossible to punch holes in that stuff.

I tried drilling a piece, but it's like trying to drill a hole through a piece of cloth. It just wound around the drill bit and ruined the piece I was experimenting on.

Everyone (especially me) was thrilled with how the bows turned out. No major issues with tillering, and everything went pretty smooth. I'm only set up to do one-on-ones in my shop, but they knew that coming in, and there wasn't too much waiting around actually. I really enjoy teaching people to make bows. The look on their face the first time they shoot their new bows was priceless!

I guess you probably guessed my other passion is Ducati motorcycles. 3 so far (well, 2 are mine and one is my wife's). This other hobby is a bit more expensive and shows very little monetary return on investment. Grin factor is pretty big, however!

That is awesome! The stingray grip is amazing. I am torn between wrapped and unwrapped handles, lol. On one hand the wood is so beautiful, but on the other a nice grip can be such a great addition.

Looks like it was a great fun in a well sorted shop.
