You can't make that kind of a bend with dry heat(at that thickness) without it cracking too much...you should use steam...its easy,and much easier for someone with little to none experience making such bends..trust me...use steam...get a pot of water boiling and cover it with tin foil and stick the tips in that to steam it...just make sure all the women are out of the house and don't know what your doing to there kitchen >:D

Im good with steam and boiling so its much more preferable.

Hey Jordan, nice stave there, your trade bow has pretty thin rings if you take a look at that. I'm planning an osage static as well, you are ahead of my schedule so i'll be following along!

I'm working on an osage static recurve as well. I had to chase the ring though. With a gang of pin knots. Ill be following along for some guidance

I got my limbs tapered to 1" starting at 15" from the tips. I also trimmed the belly on the fat boy but still got a ways to go.

its amazing how such an awesome weapon can come from a piece of wood. i would love to ask the first person who made a bow how they came up with such a bizarre idea.
