How to finish a linen backed bow
« on: August 17, 2013, 04:59:28 pm »
I am in the process of installing a linen backing on a hickory self bow.  I glued the linen on with Titebond II and it seems to have gone on smoothly.  I was wondering what to cover the linen to protect from the weather once everything dries.  I was wondering if something like a red or ocher paint would work.  I have paint both in oil and acrylic.

I have used the same finish on the linen that I used on the wood.  If you paint it ahead of time, that works too.
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Fyi you can also lightly sand the glued linen if you want a smoother texture.  Just don't go through it!!!
