You're welcome Pap ol' buddy :)

That black ft Payne in pappys creek is some tough but very workable material. I think it was cowboy who first dubbed it "pappyite" :) You don't find very big pieces at all and I've found it works better straight out of the creek rather than dry. And as with most black varietys of chert it won't take any heat at all.

The three I have hafted up for my self are all right around 200gr 3"x1 1/4" made from Tn black, Carter Cave and horse creek.

Nice points. You know how there is a Johnstone competition at each classic, maybe you should also have a "Pappyite" competition to see who can knap the best point out of the creek rock.

Thanks guys, Jesse I know what you're talkin bout. I've found and worked a bit of that as well but tend to like the black a bit better. I found some stuff on Don hunters off Rush branch. It takes heat well and resembles high ridge Burlington. Lots of color but hard to get a solid piece.

I knew that was pappyite soon as I saw it. You have gotten good there mr Will! Almost thought that saw blade was knapped there for a minute. It isn't is it?

Must be nice to have friends like that.  :)  I live smack dab in the middle of the novaculite capitol of the world but have no skill at all at knapping.  Guess I will have to find some time to figure that skill out one of these days.
