3 bows i made.
« on: July 29, 2013, 01:27:52 pm »
i edited my #76 oak longbow, brought it down to #65. I am quite happy with it now. Added a copper arrow plate and an Osage tip overlay on the top nock. Also made an #83 oak longbow, 70" NTN... I actually weighed it on a friend's scale. its from an oak floor-board. Its a tad over 2" wide in the handle, about 1 1/8 thick at the handle, to 3/4 thick by 3/8 wide tips. it shoots good, mostly bends in the handle. it was an experimental lever bow... until i decided i liked how it shot. nearly flat at 20 yards. Paracord handle wrap keeps sliding! And finally, an Ash flatbow, my first with a narrow handle- only 7/8 wide! Limbs are 2" to about 1 3/4 mid limb, 1/4 inch tips.  #35 at 26" I actually have a halfway decent fD pic- Mom took it for me! A bit of character....
Here are the pics

the #85-

You have a bright bow building future squirrel.

There you go :). Now if you round those edges a little on the board bows it will add some more life to them.

Hahaa thanks!
I read his post and decided to post some of my recent work. I have recently been putting more time into making stuff than typing...

Your bows look great! I just like to see bows people have made so I can get a better idea of their skill level.

Pics alone don't nearly answer that question. Pics do give you something to go on though. You can make a hunk of wood so pretty you could cry, that doesn't make it shoot properly. That's what seperates bowyers from wood workers.
