New roommate

I got a new roommate a couple weeks back.  At this time it is temporary, but we're open to a more permanant relationship. 



33 lbs, long legs, lean as a whip, 9 months old and came from Pine Ridge Reservation.  She remembers a long history of abuse and malnutrition that I am trying to undo.  She's skittish of loud sounds and quick movements, but is learning to play.  Yesterday, after trying twice a day for 3 weeks, she caught her first treat out of the air!

I have one simple hurdle to overcome and I'm all hers.

     Good job! 8)  Just keep at it, and give her all the affection she can handle.  From the looks of those feet, I think she will grow out of 33 lb.s and into those long legs. ;)  She looks like she is smart as well.  You just might have a Companion for those pheasant hunts. ;)  But you will have to get her over her fear of loud noises.  Very slowly, but it can be done, especially with food after a "little" noise, and then go on from there.  But there are many ways to break her of her fear of loud noises, the main thing is her trust of you. ;)  Looks like you are on your way with that already.  Good for you for taking her in.

Good on you JW...

One of our girls is a Pound Dog...
And she was "Roll Over and Pee On Herself" Whipped when we got her in 2006.
Took about two years for her to get back to being a dog...
Heck now she doesn't even bat an eyelash when I step over her...
I lost count of how many times she tripped me up trying this simple maneuver in the first two years...

So what is the final hurdle?

JW, I'll post some pics tomorrow but I have an identical twin that I brought back from louisianna last summer. I was shocked when I saw your pics of your new buddy. Thought it was mine. Looks like you got a real loyal partner there.

     Woooooo  eeeeeee  ooooooo, both good people, dogs look a like, and even the same taste in couches!  The stars are getting lined up......  I better go get some more tinfoil, just in case.... ::) ;D ;D ;D  Good for you also, Tracy! ;)

Good for you, i have a dog like that wouldn't let my girlfriend touch him for at least 3 weeks took almost a year to warm up to me but since then he is the best possible dog you could hope for. i wish you luck and hope he recovers well
