Dave's first beauty

I dragged my buddy Dave down to the classic this year and got him hooked up with the crew under the shed. He picked up a stave and started workin on his first piece of Osage. Got it shooting by Saturday and then got sick and had to stay in his hotel room most of Sat so he couldn't finish up down there.
We have been working on it here and there trying to put the finishing touches on it since we got home. He wanted to skin it and promptly picked out one of the prettiest skins I had in my bucket (thanks Art for the Irian jaya!) Today he stopped by and we were both committed to puttin a cap on this project. We started by adding buffaloes horn tip overlays. After a couple hours we shaped them and sanded out the tool marks, then put a first coat of shellac on. Next we made a string, stitched on a leather handle and this baby was ready for a test run!
This is a very smooth shooting 53# bow and Dave shoots it well!
Congrats to Dave on his first Osage beauty!

That's a beauty. I need to start going to some of these get togethers to get some help and learn something. After a bow like that I'd be hooked too.

Real nice. Those skins are striking and looks to be a really well built bow all around.
