shaft question?

Hey all ,I have about a 53# bow and was wondering what would be around the right diameter for arrows made of spruce ?thx's bb!

My 55 lb bow shoots 45-50 lb cedar arrows that are 29 bop long. They are 11/32. The bow is 1/2 from center shot and brace heighth is 6.5 inches. Make a couple up that size and reduce as nessessary to get good flight. I kind use a trial and error approach. Once you get good flight just write down what workd for that bow. Not sure on the type of wood but that should get you in the ball park

I've never heard of spruce arrows. However, the diameter doesn't matter so much... it's the spine that's more important. I've used pine... ex. 50-55# spine... some 5/16", some 11/32" and some 23/64"... and they all shoot about the same.

All depends on the piece of wood and where it's cut from the tree. I've cut shafts from  4x4 cedar that varied in spine from 35-65# in the same section of wood.
