New Bow, BBI 62" (with pics)...
« on: November 08, 2007, 03:58:25 pm »
Here's a new one I just finished up...

62" NtN, 50# @ 28", Bamboo backed Ipe, with diamondback rattler skins. Hill style handle, with yellowheart accent and poplar grip. 1.25" at the handle and fades, tapering to 1/2" nocks.
I name all my bows, and this one is dubbed "Patience," because that's what she tested. Almost lost her a couple times... first handle popped off, tillered through a hinge, lifted a splinter.

My bows seem to be getting shorter these days. I'm not building many bows over 66" lately. Just much easier to carry when out hunting, and the shorter bows sure shoot fast. A little harder to tiller, but worth the effort.

Sweet bow, looks good all over. Can't get over how much them snake skins add to the look, the handle looks soft and cushy like you could use it for a pillow - must be comfy to shoot :).

Hey, Cowboy
I use suede for a lot of my grips. I like it for hunting... it's warm, soft, and quiet. I also have kinda sweaty hands, especially when a big Saskatchewan whitetail buck swaggers past!!

Great job on that one.   Did you glue in reflex or start with straight limbs?

Mark,
No reflex. Started with straight limbs. String follow is only 1". Bamboo/Ipe is a great combo.

Wow sweet looking bow, brace and tiller both look excellent and the skins make her look deadly.

That is a nice looking bow you got there! Tiller looks darn good and I really like the contrast the handle woods give against the ipe. Superb!
