Another Cholla Knife
« on: April 13, 2013, 08:27:54 pm »
This afternoon I finished hafting up the blade I chipped out down in Burlington a few weeks ago.  The handle is cholla (this time I left it hollow) with a mesquite cap.  I need to pretty up the pitch glue a little and put a finish on it before it goes to the Christian Care Center auction weekend after next.  Rich (halfeye) made me a beautiful elk-hide sheath for it.  The rock was some that Don (Tower) brought to Burlington.  Thanks guys!

Sweet looking knife! I'm glad to see that stone is working for you.  I need to get off my rear end & make something.

I like it, looks real sharp, George. Are you going to make it to the Classic?

Thank you guys, I gave to Jim from the Care Center last night.  Snapped 1 last picture of it with the finish on it right before he came.

Interestingly, the knife seems to be getting a lot of attention from the people who check what primitive things I'm providing for their auction.  The osage bow with juniper tips isn't quite as popular.  I threw in one of my cane arrows as well.   The auction is April 29th, I might go this year.

Eddie, I don't know yet.  I'd sure like to sit in the pit with y'all.  Maybe if I can find somebody else from around here that's going to share the ride with...  I suppose I should warn Mary I'm thinkin about it.
