Trade bow draw lenght question
« on: April 03, 2013, 07:57:01 pm »
Well I am finished with my trade bow and I went back to look at my recipients stats and I am a DUMMY! For some reason I tillered and designed the bow at the low end of there preferred draw length.  So I pulled it to the preferred length and it seems a bit much on the bow. I know it will take it but I am concerned about the longevity of the bow. I have plenty of longer bows in the works so sending another one is no problem. Question for all you guys in the trade, how much do you all stick to that draw? I have a every changing draw from shooting long and short bows, am I alone? I do not want to send a bow that someone will not enjoy. Maybe some of you in the trade will reply and I will lure my recipient into answering the question >:D

how much difference are you talking about Paul, that's a sweet looking bow I'd hate to see it fail, Bub

I should of said that after looking though their posts most of their bows are at 27 to 28

Same here as rps3.  My hunting bows are all pretty much the same draw length 26-27", but I have little short Indian bows that are 24".  Were it me, I would (will) be happy in that 4 inch range.  Just my take on it :)

if most of his are 27" i'd think you'd be o.k.

Thats a tough call on that question Paul, I know I can shoot at 23" to 26" draw and will vary depending on the bow length and style.
I'd say go with whatever your gut tells you or hopefully your recipient will respond to this post and make the decision easy on you. ;)

The request was for a range  of lengths. I  placed my draw in the middle of the range. I would think most others did the same.

:) I like short draws. My longbow draw is 28'' but my short bow draw is anywhere from 21'' to my standard 26'' draw. Most folks like me :o put a 2 to 4 in. span about middle of their draw range. I think most peeps will be ok with a shorter draw than posted. JMO

I'm ok with the short end of my listed draw length especially if it is at the high range of my weight range at that draw length like you posted in your last pic post. That's a sweet looking bow. I would be proud to own and use that beauty and I haven't even seen the finish on it yet.  ;)
