Thanks, the chunk of rock it came from was marked rainbow obsidian when I got it, honestly it's not as transparent as obsidian, more opaque like chert. The rock starts out pink and ends in darker purple

I'd say it's chert. . Nice work . Sinew makes a better halfting that leather.

very nice stonework !
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...

I am with Twisted Limbs, definitely not not Rainbow Obsidian, I don't think it is obsidian at all, like Twisted Limbs said.  But that being said, Very nice work, irregardless of material! ;) 8) 8)  Sinew would look better, but what you have is fine as far as I am concerned, I am a firm believer in using what you have at hand, and doing the best you can with it.  You did fine! ;)  Nice knife.

Nice knife! It's not obsidian, I don't think novaculite either. I'd put my money on coral.

I'm with TwistedLimbs - looks like novaculite of some sort - definitely is NOT obsidian!
